Houseifyer & Rhythm Shifter – The New Sound are shaped

Born in Sweden in 1977, Thomas Tornevall is a multidisciplinary creator with deep roots in the electronic music scene. Inspired by the rave culture and eurodance of the 1990s, Thomas began experimenting with sound early on – initially using trackers like FastTracker II and later tools like Cakewalk and Reason. Today, his music spans across platforms and aliases, driven by a refusal to stay within the lines of genre.

The Alter Egos: Houseifyer and Rhythm Shifter

To separate musical identities and creative intentions, Thomas created two distinct aliases: The Houseifyer and Rhythm Shifter.

The Houseifyer is rooted in all forms of house music – from classic grooves to tribal, Latin and tech-house variations. The project originally began as a remix concept, with every title including the phrase “Housifyed Remix”. However, as production grew and lyrical components entered the workflow, the spelling “Housifyed” started to cause awkward phrasing and confusion in some vocal-based projects. This led to a slight but meaningful rebranding into The Houseifyer – a name that now represents both remix and original work in the house music domain.

Rhythm Shifter, in contrast, is a high-energy identity fully immersed in the world of Jungle and Drum & Bass. It reflects Thomas’s deeper interest in rapid tempos, chopped breaks and intricate rhythmic manipulation. It’s not just DnB – it’s experimental, atmospheric, and always shifting.

Houseifyer and Rhythm Shifter also produces originals. Bass Assassin Protocol is the release, but an original track (not remixed), to initialize and celebrate the process of this project.

The Genre Philosophy

Thomas doesn’t believe in staying inside genre boundaries. His soundscape is shaped by everything from Eastern harmonics to aggressive club beats, blending elements from:

  • House (classic, Latin, tribal)
  • Jungle / Drum & Bass
  • Techno, eurodance, rave
  • Experimental EDM
  • Even influences outside EDM – like Rammstein or Dimmu Borgir

His favorite artists span decades and styles – Sub Focus, Andy C, Fatboy Slim, Carl Cox, Mob Tactics, Vlada Asanin, Roger Sanchez and many more.

This genre fluidity is what drives the entire music project: To remix the known, create the unheard, and never settle into a single formula.

Equipment and Studio Tools

The production setup has evolved over time but is still heavily based in Reason Studio. From early module sequencing to full-scale DJ mixes (since 2021), Thomas treats software as a playground for rhythm and innovation. Remixing remains a vital part of the process, but original work is increasing in focus.
